The only mosque in Brickfields.
It started off as a madrasah (school) giving Al-Quran lessons to children.
The mosque was originally a small wooden surau in this same area known back then as Kg. Khadijah.
Most Muslims in Malaysia are followers of Mazhab Syafie but this mosque follows Mazhab Hanafi, a different Islam teaching.
Mazhab Hanafi asar prayers are around 5:30pm, an hour later than Mazhab Syafie which is at around 4:30pm.
Most Mazhab Hanafi followers do not eat crabs.
Goutiyyah means one who is helpful. This mosque was named after a respectable imam, Imam Abdul Qadir Jailani, who loved to help people.
His birthday is celebrated at only 2 mosques in KL, including this mosque!
The imams here are from India!
Main language used is Bahasa Melayu & Tamil
During Friday prayers, imams wear a special robe called “chaya”.
